The first Passing Acquaintance, a Baedecker about that Belgian gnome Michaux was one of the earliest essays published on Continental Riffs. With four readers so far, it feels fair to dredge it out of the files while I get new articles ready for a September Blast. (I’m going under the surgeon’s knife in a week, so like M., I’ll have plenty of recuperation time to stare at the ceiling.) My digital abilities remain piss poor and my interest in improving them flagging to non-existant, so here it is, with new images and some text added. Dig in and best of the rest of August to faithful and heathens alike.
