7 a.m., the light is fresh, I’m heading down to the river. I look up as I pass the City of Refuge....aha ! An inhabitant who knows that books are windows that can also work as shutters.

And the building all around that intriguing pile of books ?

The Princesse de Polignac was born in Yonkers. Lucky for her future plans, the house was full of Singers, not the sewing machines but the ones who manufactured them. She grew up in London and Paris.
